End of ends

the day started as most of my days do: with mom yelling at me to get up. i'm starting to think this is the only way to get me to wake up. i sure hope not for her sake and mine.

her first wake up call was at 8:54 which i promptly ignored and went back to my slumber. there is a term for what my mom does. it is not "waking up". it is not even a suggestion. what she does is downright KALAMPAG. the tagalog term for badgering. she screams, guilts, and verbally harasses me until i get up out of my bed. when she hears me coming to, the first question she asks is "maliligo ka pa ba?"

in the interest of saving time and getting me to wherever she orders me to go, she subscribes to the idea that i can forego a shower. this is insanity as every morning i wake up, i wake up drenched in sweat. i don't get it either. the electric fan is trained on me the entire night. must be all my black pambahay t-shirts. seriously, most of my pambahay shirts are black. this stems from my desire to go bra-less around the house and a white shirt just isn't conducive for that purpose even if we're all women here.

the errand for today is to go to quiapo to buy cards for the laundry. i've gone on my own once before so i knew my way around. i can't take a car because where in the hell would i park it? on the way there, a group of students got on the jeep i was on and started talking about whatever exam they just took. i'm loathe to admit it but i'm finally starting to realize that i have a major superiority complex because of my school. i find myself thinking that i'm above these students who look to be about my year if not younger. i just found myself thinking that how hard can their lives be? they don't study in UP. that's probably loads easier than what they make us do. and i found myself judging these people harshly. for example, the guy beside me turned out to have missed three questions in the exam that his friends got. jesus. i know it's horrible to think i'm better than them in every way but i did it. i was even wearing my honor and excellence shirt. i love that shirt because unless you're aware, you won't know it's a UP shirt. it's subtle and i love that about it. i'm glad i didn't announce to them that i'm from UP. it would just make me feel bad.

anyway, i got the cards, i delivered it to the laundry and i went back home for lunch. my mom and i follow the impeachment trial (her more than me) so we settled in for our afternoon entertainment. it really is a joy to watch the culmination of 5 months of trial and see the final decision slowly take form. i am particularly interested in the seantors' opening statements because that is really where their (or their speech writer's) creativity shines through. it's definitely a win for the filipino people that the CJ was convicted. if he didn't betray public trust before, he sure doesn't have it anymore. which is sad but we all know he was in cahoots with gloria. it's really time now for some accountability in government and what better place to start than the justice system. towards the end of the impeachment, i fell asleep and woke up to the strains of the judgement of JPE. so there it is. conviction.

after the impeachment, my mom still made me go to the laundry for closing. even if i was already so groggy from my nap. janin closed the books quickly and i was able to go home right away.

now that there's no more american idol, no more impeachment trial, what is left to look forward to? school? org work? friends? again? -buntong hininga-

i just want my resolve to return so i can start being a productive member of society once more.

someone please jolt me into consciousness.
